No Holiday Closings at this time
Answer: No. Students must be at least 16 years of age to attend driver education classes.
Answer: Yes. As it stands now, a parent or legal guardian is required to attend the parent class (Class 7 P/S at our school) with their child if the child is 16 or 17. Once your child turns 18, a parent or legal guardian is no longer required to attend. If there is no parent or legal guardian available to attend, the student must wait until they are 18 and then a parent or legal guardian is no longer required to attend this class. The 18+ student would attend Class 7A (at our school) now.
Answer: 4 months (120 days to be exact) if you take the 38 Hour program.
6 Months (180 days to be exact) if you take just the 8 Hour Safe Driving Practices Program.
Answer: No. At our school, the students can take the classes in any order and do not have to start with Class #1. There are no sessions that begin and end. Students can jump in at any time to start taking classes. There is no time limit as to how long it takes to complete the program.
Answer: When students test at CCD, the test vehicle has to be in a CCD car. It can not be done in your vehicle.
Answer: If an applicant is 16 or 17 years of age, they must have 70 hours of driver’s education. This consists of 30 hours of classroom time and 40 hours of on-the-road drive time.
If the applicant is taking the full 38-hour program, they must wait 121 days from the issue date of their permit and would need to receive an additional 32 hours of home drive time, as well, before they can test for their license.
If the applicant is taking the 8 Hour Safe Driving Practices program, they must wait 181 days from the issue date of their permit and would need to receive an additional 22 hours of classroom time and the full 40 hours of drive time from home, as well, before they can test for their license.
Answer: No. Students do not need to have a learner’s permit to enroll in driver’s ed. They do have to be at least 16 years of age, however. They are welcome to take the classroom portion without a permit. However, they will need the learner’s permit to drive on the road.
